When Lady Olivia of the House of Thomas runs away from home (just for the day), her intentions are to escape from her suitors. She never expected that decision would lead to meeting the one she wants to court her. But her interest in Peter the woodsman, a bold and penniless wanderer, causes him enormous complications. For one, after the lady is kidnapped, all suspicion falls upon him.

Can he track her down, free her from her kidnappers, and return her home safely while keeping his own neck out of a noose? When his journey leads to a run-in with someone from his past, his chances of survival shrink even further. Soon, Lady Olivia comes to realize that she may have fallen into an adventure that is bigger than she can handle and that she is not the only one needing to be RESCUED.
