When a merman named Silvyn crosses paths with a woman of the highlands, Graiceyl with the purple eyes, he enjoys the interaction mostly out of sheer rebellion against his people's laws but never expects to see her again. Soon, however, she has invaded his life and causes him to question everything he once thought he knew.

Their growing relationship rattles not only his life but also two cultures. In the midst of the shaking comes a new complication, one that will change everything for all time: the long-awaited Savior and Champion, Elthan.
